So you do not like Sam Walton - what about Oprah?

My goodness - I had no idea the number of people who scolded me for saying Sam Walton redefined Big Business. Okay, several asked me to talk about a successful woman who does good with a lot of money.

Okay - what about Oprah? Philanthropist, advocate, contributor.. I don’t know about you but she is an inspiration to me. She is so busy, seems to care a great deal about people, has her own troubles (her school problems) and still finds time to read and recommend good books!

Please know my point was meant to inspire - sorry I missed the mark with some of you!

Love, Casey

  1. Hi Casey,

Just a note to say it was great to see you in person on this video. I’ve been following your website for years, taken courses and did a round of coaching with you about three years ago, always wanting to meet you in person. The video has filled this desire for me. I now have your live persona to go with your wonderful nurturing voice and kind supportive words.

I want to take this opportunity to thank you for, and share the benefits of, the coaching we did together, especially since at one point, you were concerned I was not getting what I needed at the time.

About 6 months ago, I suddenly saw that many of the things we had talked about and worked on have come to fruition without my even noticing. You helped me clarify how I was blocking myself and gave me ideas and strategies to use to break through and move on. So I’m including here what’s happened for me during the past three years, which resulted from your support, and the support of many others in my life as well.

    1) I closed my unprofitable private practice that had filled with Sacramento County Family re-unification parents, who I loved working with, but could not make a living from.
    2) After some false starts, I found a 3 day a week job with Jewish Family Service, Sacramento, which is providing the stable income base I need in order to start a private practice.
    3) I am currently seeing 2-4 clients, in my old private practice office, one day a week, sliding scale, cash and carry. Yeh!! This happened when my agency closed their clinical department and several clients wanted to continue seeing me. I continued working at the agency, and opened my private practice.
    4) I’ve selected Couples Therapy as my specialty. I’m using Ellen Bader & Peter Pearson’s Developmental Model, “In Quest of the Mythical Mate”, which fits me like a glove and has helped me overcome my belief from the past that “couples are too much for me”.
    5) Just this month, I’ve freed up two days a week from my personal life to dedicate to developing my private practice.
    6) I’ve surrounded myself with positive, proactive people, groups and communities, and have courageously moved on if they no longer fit this description for me.
    7) I ordered and read your book as soon as it came out Casey. Even though I have done your CD Course several times, having the information in book form has been very helpful. I just pick it up, turn to the topic I need, and voila’, you’re instantly there for me, with short bursts of information and straightforward honest caring support. I love it!

You know, Casey, I think I needed to write this note as much for me as for you. This writing has helped me to recognize, acknowledge and accept, how much I’ve matured over the years and how much I have to offer.

Thanks again Casey, for following your calling to help we therapists be more successful. You’ve certainly helped me, and will continue to help me because I’m not done yet.

I like journeying with you Casey. You’re the kind of folk I like to surround myself with. Keep up the good work!

    Love,
    Sheila

  2. Casey,
I’ve never written to you before. I am amazed, but not surprised, that you received comments from some of your readers. Your messages are hopeful and inspiring to me.
I spent over 20 years in the business world before getting my MA. I continue to work on my hours as an MFTI and have been appalled at the strange belief systems of many in this field.
I can make more money teaching (which I love) than I can working toward my hours. So I have volunteered the past year and half in an effort to finish. Your messages give me inspiration, keep on sending them!!! Blessings to you! Tery Ayers MA., MFTI
